Petros P. Sfikakis, MD
He qualified from the Medical School of the National & Kapodistrian University of Athens, Greece. He pursued postgraduate doctoral studies in academic units of Internal Medicine and Rheumatology-Immunology in Greece and at the Walter Reed Medical Center, US University of the Health Sciences, Bethesda, MD, where he also served as Assistant Professor of Medicine.
Since 2009 he is Professor of Internal Medicine & Rheumatology at the National & Kapodistrian University of Athens and since 2013 the Director of the First Department of Propedeutic Internal Medicine and the Rheumatology Unit (a EULAR Centre of Excellence in Rheumatology). He has also served as the Dean of the Medical School (2015-2021). His research interests focus on the pathogenesis and treatment of the systemic rheumatic diseases and has (co-)authored more than 500 original publications listed in PubMed (Hirsch index=82 in GS).
